Dean Epps to Lead Philadelphia Police Oversight Board

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter has appointed Dean JoAnne Epps to lead an independent Oversight Board formed in response to a recent Justice Department report about Philadelphia police shootings. The board, which will report to the Mayor, has been charged with ensuring that that the report’s recommendations for reform are carried out.

Temple Law Student Wins First Prize in Bar Association Writing Competition

Third-year law student Bradley Smith has taken the top prize in the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s newest writing competition, which focuses on issues in workers’ compensation. In addition to a cash prize, the paper will be published in The Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Centennial: A Narrative and Pictorial Celebration, a commemorative publication edited by Hon. David B. Torrey.
